We will start this journey with American rock music from the 50s:
Popular artists of the 50s: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis etc.
Rn′R in the 50´s was very influenced by old Rythm n′ Blues music and also had some country influences.
Guess you could say that the history of rock music started earlier with the blues, before the 50s, but we have to begin this journey somewhere

Then its time for the 60s, also know as the British invasion:
Popular artists: The Beatles, The Who, The Yardbirds, The Animals and Rolling Stones.
Late 60′s, was also the early years of Hard Rock/Heavy metal:
Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin etc.

The 70′s – Sabbath Bloody sabbath.
More Hard Rock:
Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, KISS, Budgie, Thin Lizzy etc.
We continue with both glam and punk of the 70′s:
Slade, Sweet, New York Dolls, Ramones, Sex pistols.
